In mid-December 2023, a 5-day international jump rope industry event was grandly held in Shanghai - Jump Sports and the International Jump Rope Union (IJRU) reached a new round of official cooperation.

The cooperation aims to support the accuracy and reliability of refereeing in international jump rope competitions, and to work together to promote the development of the global jump rope industry.

Not only have industry standards been deeply discussed and optimized, a series of public welfare performances aimed at teenagers have also gained high popularity, further laying the foundation for the promotion of skipping sports and the road to the Olympics.

On the afternoon of the 13th, under the joint witness of the Shanghai Education Commission, Baoshan District Education Bureau, Gaojing Town People's Government, and on-site teachers and student representatives, the International Jump Rope Federation's "Everyone Can Jump Rope" launch ceremony kicked off at Gaojing Science and Innovation Experimental Primary School.

Deputy Director Wang Xiaobo of Baoshan District Education Bureau greeted the guests present and introduced that as early as 2010, the district has been vigorously promoting the series of popular science activities "Everyone Can Jump Rope".

The "Sunshine Skipping Rope Activity" has been cultivating for nearly 10 years; benchmark events such as the Shanghai Primary and Secondary School Students' Skipping Rope Championship and the Shanghai Family Skipping Rope Parent-Child Competition have settled in Baoshan; the whole district vigorously supports national fitness, integration of sports and education, and has nurtured the first Jumping Youth Sports Club.

One of the most proud places is Gaojing Town, known as the "Skipping Town". The skipping atmosphere here is hot, based on the combination of campus and physical education, giving birth to a group of world champions, allowing the traditional Chinese sports project of skipping rope to once again stand at the center of the world.

At the beginning of the day's activities, the students of Gaojing Science and Technology Innovation amazed the audience with a performance during a long break, and the captivating jump rope culture could be seen everywhere on campus.

In recent years, with the further reform of the integration of sports and education, more and more students have taken skipping rope as their favorite physical activity, not only improving cardiovascular function, but also significantly enhancing learning efficiency.

According to Principal Zhiqiao, Gaojing Science and Technology Experimental Primary School is one of the earliest schools in the country to introduce fancy rope skipping, and has established a characteristic education model of "rope weaving vertically and horizontally". By integrating curriculum education, activity education, collaborative education, etc., it has opened up a diverse and interactive learning path both inside and outside the school, realizing the educational ideal of "educating virtues with ropes, enhancing intelligence with ropes, promoting physical fitness with ropes, cultivating aesthetics with ropes, and uniting hearts with ropes" through the "education of people through sports".

The school's "The Ideal of a Rope - A Decade of Exploration of the Innovative Practice Path of Ordinary Schools 'Taking Physical Education as the Core'" won the Special Prize for Teaching Achievements in Shanghai and the Second Prize for National Teaching Achievements.

Following that, the President of the International Jump Rope Federation, Sean Hamilton, introduced the initial concept of "EVERYBODY JUMP," which coincides with the idea of "Everyone Can Jump Rope" in Baoshan District. They hope to further enhance the project's influence by utilizing the characteristics of jump rope sports such as "easy to carry out, good fitness effects, strong public welfare attributes," allowing more countries and regions, more people to participate in jump rope sports, bringing health and happiness to people in impoverished areas worldwide.

The grand plan of "visiting the birthplace of skipping rope sport and joining hands with Chinese power to enter the Olympics" can be traced back to as early as 2014 in the words of President Shawn. When he learned that Baoshan District was the first place in the world to put "everyone can skip rope" into action, he immediately decided to lead the team to visit.

In the applause and cheers of the teachers and students, a sculpture engraved with "EVERYBODY JUMP, the global birthplace" slowly unveiled, giving Baoshan District a different meaning as the city's hot spot for jump rope.
